Investigators for the Health and Human Services inspector general's office conducted a test of the tracing system. The result: they were only able to follow five out of 40 foods all the way through the supply chain.

A new policy will be enforced by USDA, Food Safety and Inspection Service(see detail at FDA/USDA Update). It bans almost all imported food products if it contains a small amount of meat, poultry, or processed egg in ingredients, despite no food safety is in concern. This policy is expected in effective on June 19, 2009 and will hit massively to the importers as well the consumer. In result of it, the most popular Egg Noodle, Egg Roll from Asia will contain no egg as they alway do. No more delicious mooncake with cooked egg yolk from hometown this year, etc. Expert says some ingredient can be substututed by artificial or one from local, but the most can't. Only at the importer level, this policy will cause a lost over millions dollar a month in US.
